~About Yoga For Everybody~
M, W, F 9am-6pm
We are a small business, often there is only one person working, so there is not always someone in the office (i.e. had to run an errand or get lunch). It's a good idea to call before you come. Our store is open the same hours as above and same rules apply. In addition the store is open 1/2 hour before any class on the schedule.
Yoga for Everybody, LLC, is a place where everyone can practice yoga, regardless of ability, age or flexibility. It is conveniently located in downtown Fairfield, near the train station. Classes are offered 7 days a week. For many of our classes, it is not necessary to sign up for a specific class or time--come to any class that fits your schedule (certain classes are recommended only for experienced students, such as Level 1&2, Level 2, and Vinyasa Flow Yoga). For a few classes, advanced sign up online is recommended. We limit the class size of the Restorative class to 16 students and it is possible to sign up in advance through our online registration system. To do this, click on the Class Schedule tab on the top of this page, and you will be directed to our online system. If you have not already done so, you will be asked to create a user name and password. Other classes that tend to be more full include the 9:15 class times. Different times of year also are more popular, such as January.
Research confirms that yoga greatly reduces the effects of stress by relaxing muscles, relieving aches and pains, and promoting ease of movement. Additional benefits include improved posture, muscle tone, concentration, circulation, respiration, digestion, and endocrine function. This enhances feelings of well-being and provides a balance of body, mind and spirit.
At Yoga for Everybody, our classes offer instruction in asanas (classic, specifically defined physical postures for the body) and pranayama (the breathing techniques used in yoga). Through the practice of these postures and breathing techniques, the body is stretched and strengthened, and the mind is calmed. Our style of yoga is an eclectic flow style, with an emphasis on breath and alignment. We have a variety of teachers who represent different traditions and teaching styles--read the web page about the teachers to see their pictures and read their bios.
We hope that you will feel welcome to drop in and begin to experience the benefits of this 5000 year-old system.
The physical building that houses Yoga for Everybody's studio is an older brick building in Downtown Fairfield. We occupy the whole upstairs. Our studio has two practice rooms with windows on three sides, and there is a lobby, sign-in room, restrooms, and a changing room.
Our studio is clean, quiet, and well equipped with yoga props such as blankets, blocks, bolsters and straps. We have rental mats for a fee of $1, however, we highly encourage you to bring your own mat. We also sell mats and a small selection of mat bags, eye pillows and blocks.
For specific guidelines and recommendations on practicing yoga, please read the Getting Started page of this website.
