~About Yoga For Everybody~
Research confirms that yoga greatly reduces the effects of stress by relaxing muscles, relieving aches and pains, and promoting ease of movement. Additional benefits include improved posture, muscle tone, concentration, circulation, respiration, digestion, and endocrine function. This enhances feelings of well-being and provides a balance of body, mind and spirit.
At Yoga for Everybody, our classes offer instruction in asanas (classic, specifically defined physical postures for the body) and pranayama (the breathing techniques used in yoga). Through the practice of these postures and breathing techniques, the body is stretched and strengthened, and the mind is calmed. Our style of yoga is an eclectic flow style, with an emphasis on breath and alignment. We have a variety of teachers who represent different traditions and teaching styles--read the web page about the teachers to see their pictures and read their bios.
We hope that you will feel welcome to drop in and begin to experience the benefits of this 5000 year-old system.

The physical building that houses Yoga for Everybody's studio is in an old brick building. We are upstairs, in the back of the building, in a large room with windows on three sides. There is a lobby and two changing rooms.
Our studios are clean, quiet, and well equipped with yoga props such as blankets, blocks, and straps. We have rental mats for a fee of $1, however, we highly encourage you to bring your own mat. We also sell mats.

In January 2010, we added a few classes at a new location, Southport Galleries in Southport. We are able to offer small classes here, so please sign up in advance to guarantee your spot.
For specific guidelines and recommendations on practicing yoga, please read the Getting Started page of this website.
